完全沒有當機，字也都很清楚，只是字太小了.. 看起來很傷眼吧... 到時候可能要打橫著看會比較舒服

這已經不算新聞囉，不過自從iPad 出來之後大家應該對E-Ink 電子書閱讀器不太有興趣了吧？

反觀台灣Benq 的nReader 是在有夠小家子氣的，不曉得賣得好不好.. 聽Seal 燦坤的朋友說，配得量本來就不多

這是剛剛在科技大站Gizmodo 看到的一篇新聞

整篇文章大概是在說美國的Target大賣場表示從06/06開始在全美國的銷售點裡裏銷售亞馬遜的Kindle電子書閱讀器。
Seal 記得，今年四月Target 好像就有先在部份的賣場先行試賣6 吋的Kindle 2 電子書閱讀器，也許是因為反應不錯吧！
所以才會這樣全面性的開賣，賣Nook 電子書閱讀器的Barnes & Noble 超大書店應該會稍微緊張一下吧！

Target 配合Amazon Kindle、Sony 的eReader 在BestBuy 也有賣、Barnes & Noble 書店的Nook
住美國還真幸福！好多選擇！電子書的內容供應也很充實... 反觀台灣... 唉...

Engadget - E Ink shows off brighter, crisper, more flexible displays

It's easy to forget that E Ink is an actual company and not just a display technology, but the company was out in full force at the recent SID 2010 conference to remind folks of that fact, and show off some of its latest and greatest prototype displays. Chief among those is a new color display that promises crisper, brighter colors, though still not quite full color -- something that's apparently achieved by applying a filter on top of a regular black and white E Ink panel, which itself has blacker blacks and whiter whites than before. Also on display was a new "fully flexible" display (not color), and another black and white display that was apparently able to playback Flash video -- although E Ink curiously wasn't allowing anyone to film it in action. The folks from MIT's Technology Review did manage to capture a brief look at the rest of them on video, however -- hit up the link below for their report.

3. 快速關必TTS語音朗讀功能 - 同時按住"ALT" + "空白鍵"

4. 快速進入Kindle Store 買書血拼 - 同時按住"ALT" + "HOME"

5. 螢幕快照/截圖 - 同時按住"ALT" + "↑(大寫按鍵)" 再按 "G" 這時會看到螢幕閃一下，然後就會截圖GIF 存到documents 資料夾囉

Amazon Kindle 2.5 版軔體的最新消息 - Kindle Software Update Version 2.5

Amazon 在官方的Kindle Software Update 升級協助頁面發表了新的言論
算是寫給還沒有升級到2.5 版本的Kindle 用戶看的，不過現在網路上還滿多升級檔案的。其實不太需要在意啦！

Color might still be out of the question -- both now and far into the future -- but Amazon seems fit to take out some of the Kindle's fat. Bloomberg has it on word that the company will debut a thinner version of its e-book reader in August, and the new workout regiment will also enhance its screen sharpness and responsiveness. No word on if this'll apply to current models or be an entirely different variant, but in addition to no color, we do hear it lacks a touch screen. Bummer, but if the price is right, we'll bite.

大概是說，彩色的Kindle 電子書閱讀器並不會在短期內出現
但是Amazon 亞馬遜似乎決定要先幫現有的Kindle 產品減肥一下
Bloomberg 這個網站指出，Amazon 現在正在準備一款更輕薄的電子書產品預定要在今年八月發表。
新的Eink 電子書的螢幕將會更漂亮，而且換頁的反應速度也將獲得改善。

不過，他們並沒有提到是不是現有6吋及DX 都會改款，但是有表示應該還是不會把觸控給放進去。

【賽迪網訊】北京時間5月27日消息，據國外媒體報道，亞馬遜CEO傑夫·貝索斯(Jeff Bezos)日前表示，無需擔心蘋果iPad平板電腦，因為它不可能取代Kindle電子書閱讀器。

當蘋果發佈iPad時，許多分析師認為，單一功能的Kindle的末日已經臨近。但貝索斯卻並不這樣認為，稱iPad不可能取代Kindle。

貝索斯說：“Kindle將與iPad等LCD設備展開競爭，Kindle是一款專注型產品，這也是它的優勢所在。真正的讀者需要的是一款特定功能的產品，因為閱讀是他們的重要行為。”

此外，貝索斯還表示，短期內不可能推出彩色版Kindle。分析師認為，無論是出於用戶需求，還是與iPad競爭需要，亞馬遜都應該推出彩色版 Kindle。

不知道有沒有人跟Seal 一樣，為了PDF 的放大功能、更快的PDF 開啟速度、收藏書籍的分類
而更新上Kindle 2.5 的軔體，卻也同時失去了usbNetwork 與中文顯示的功能...





現在有補救的方法囉，之前在製作Kindle 中文系統的大陸同胞，多看Duokan 團隊
發表了Kindle DX 2.5 的中文DFH 漢化包，只要把檔案抓下來，解壓縮放到Kindle 的根目錄
然後再進到menu 來更新你的Kindle，更新完成就可以正常的顯示中文囉！ 快去試試吧




中文化完成後，就像上面這樣囉

稍微提示一下，需要放入以下的檔案喔！

字體的部份：
free_font.ttf
free_font_bold.ttf

系統更新檔案：
Update_cnfont_dx.bin

如何中文化你的Kindle DX 2.3.3 美國版？ Display Chinese in your Kindle DX

這篇只是筆記，不是教學喔！

先裝好usbNetwork 0.11 版
然後使用Mac 的Terminal 終端機 Telnet 進去Kindle

telnet 192.168.2.2

然後把Root 變成可寫入狀態

mntroot rw

在Kindle 使用者可讀寫的區塊建立一個叫做"fonts" 的資料夾

mkdir /mnt/us/fonts

把Kindle 系統裡面的字型檔案Copy 到剛剛建立的"fonts" 資料夾

cp -R /usr/java/lib/fonts/* /mnt/us/fonts

把Kindle 的usbNetwork 模式關掉以利開啟USB 讀取模式，也就是隨身碟模式啦！

rmmod g_ether && modprobe g_file_storage

然後到fonts 資料夾裡，找到對應的字體檔案，用任何一個Unicode 的字體取代並存回Kindle
這邊Seal 推薦使用Google Android 免費提供的Unicode 字型，在這邊下載！
進去之後，記得點選DroidSansFallback.ttf 旁邊的RAW 來把這個字型檔案給抓回來
都處理完之後，請把Kindle 弄回去usbNetwork 模式

一樣請Telnet 進入Kindle

telnet 192.168.2.2

然後把Root 變成可寫入狀態

mntroot rw

然後把原本Kindle 系統所指定的字體資料夾，改成我們剛剛置換過的資料夾

mount --bind /mnt/us/fonts /usr/java/lib/fonts

重新啟動Kindle 的使用介面，就可以在選單中看到中文的檔名啦～ 有沒有高興呀？

/etc/init.d/framework restart

記得，要把USB 存儲模式給開回來喔！

rmmod g_ether && modprobe g_file_storage

如何分辨Kindle 的版本？ 國際版？還是美版呀？

要怎麼分辨呢？把你的Kindle 翻過來，看屁股上的SN 序號：

B001 = Kindle 1代（看外型應該就知道了吧？）



B002 = Kindle 2 U.S. (內建CDMA，只在美國和少部份地區能用網路)

B003 = Kindle 2 International (國際版)

B004 = Kindle DX U.S. (內建CDMA，只在美國和少部份地區能用網路)

B005 = Kindle DX International (國際版)

如何更改Kindle 的系統時間，Change Kindle's time without wireless

Kindle 的設定選項裡並沒有時間的設定，如果你跟Seal 一樣是拿US Wireless 版的Kindle
而且又很不幸的人在台灣的話，當每次你按Menu 進入選單之後，都會看到錯誤的時間
甚至當你把Kindle 當成隨身碟接到電腦的時候，會看到一大堆1970 年的檔案

這該如何修正呢？

先裝好被Amazon 拿掉的usbNetwork 外掛，然後Telnet 到Kindle 裡去下指令

telnet 192.168.2.2

date MMDDHHMMAAAA

MM 代表月份
DD 代表日期
HH 代表小時
MM 代表分鐘
AAAA 代表年份

舉例來說，2010年05月09日下午02點02分就要輸入

date 050902022010

這樣就改好囉！

Kindle for Mac，Terminal VI 編輯器的使用

Seal 最近敗入了Kindle DX US 版，有些東西需要用usbNetwork 透過telnet 到Kindle
有些東西會用到Terminal 裡的VI 編輯器來修改一些系統檔案，這邊大概筆記一些VI 編輯器的用法

參考資料：鳥哥的 Linux 私房菜 - 第十章、vim 程式編輯器

這張圖還不錯，解釋了一些VI 的基本指令



1. 用vi 開啟檔案

vi 檔案路徑/檔案名稱

2. 開始編輯檔案

按鍵盤上的"i"，並且看到左下角的出現"I"，就可以開始進行編輯了

3. 結束編輯檔案

按鍵盤上的"esc"，並且看到左下角的"I"不見，就可以開始使用其他指令了

4. 強制儲存檔案並離開

在結束編輯模式的時候，輸入":wq!"

5. 指令列的一些常用指令

:w
將編輯的資料寫入硬碟檔案中(常用)

:w!
若檔案屬性為『唯讀』時，強制寫入該檔案。不過，到底能不能寫入， 還是跟你對該檔案的檔案權限有關啊！

:q
離開 vi (常用)

:q!
若曾修改過檔案，又不想儲存，使用 ! 為強制離開不儲存檔案。
注意一下啊，那個驚嘆號 (!) 在 vi 當中，常常具有『強制』的意思～

:wq
儲存後離開，若為 :wq! 則為強制儲存後離開 (常用)

ZZ
這是大寫的 Z 喔！若檔案沒有更動，則不儲存離開，若檔案已經被更動過，則儲存後離開！

:w [filename]
將編輯的資料儲存成另一個檔案（類似另存新檔）

:r [filename]
在編輯的資料中，讀入另一個檔案的資料。亦即將 『filename』 這個檔案內容加到游標所在行後面

:n1,n2 w [filename]
將 n1 到 n2 的內容儲存成 filename 這個檔案。

:! command
暫時離開 vi 到指令列模式下執行 command 的顯示結果！例如
『:! ls /home』即可在 vi 當中察看 /home 底下以 ls 輸出的檔案資訊！

這台韓國來的電子閱讀器還滿漂亮的，吃一堆Office 的格式、Zip 漫畫也不需要解壓縮
內建喇叭，麥克風可以錄音，感覺還不錯說... 只可惜他的螢幕小了一點
01/31 好像就開賣了，不曉得哪裡有實機可以給Seal 玩玩看...
NT$13900 有一點太貴了... 如果可以無息分個12期的話應該不錯

這台來自台灣廠商，綠林資訊的本土國產電子書
算是Seal 目前有實際操作過的電子閱讀器之一
把玩起來的感覺還不錯，不過依這樣的規格賣到NT$8950 有一點點太貴了
而且一樣是六吋，太小啦....

有一點比較特別的是，他們的電子書城好像要開放啦！有興趣的朋友參考看看

Seal 最最最喜歡的一台，大尺寸
有鍵盤、3G網路可以直接上Wiki 查資料，不過在台灣免費上網這部份Seal 還沒有查到相關資料
網路上也充滿了許多的中文化資料，不過據說開啟中文TXT 檔案會有些小問題
PDF 檔案也無法直接放大縮小
但是目前為止Kindle 仍然銷售最好的電子書.....

拿到Aspire One 後你該做什麼呢? (美國朋友ONLY!!)

先恭喜買了Aspire One 的朋友..這真的是台好機器..
在大陸聯想 Lenovo 繼收購IBM Thinkpad 電腦部門之後...
現在又要把德國西門子的電腦部門給買起來... 新聞請看這邊
西門子的電腦部門其實跟日商富士通是合伙.. 如果你人在歐洲就可以買到Fuji-Siemens 的電腦喔!
很多款都還滿好看滿帥的... 聯想這一步就是為了要跟我們台灣的宏基 Acer 對打啊...
宏基在歐洲市場的市占率可是第一呀!!! 等這個收購完成後.. 我們的宏基就危險了!!!

所以Seal 誠心的推荐這台Aspire One.. 雖然大部份Acer 電腦因為Cost Down 的關係..
相信很多人都看過因為機子太熱而掛掉的Acer 筆電... 但是其實你也不能怪他....
Made in China.. 再加上Acer 的電腦真的很便宜.. 一分錢一分貨呀...

不過這台Aspire One 用的是Intel 的Atom 處理器.. 作業溫度可以達到98 度西...
Seal 試過把風扇關掉... 強制跑全速 1.6 GHZ 的速度.. 溫度最高到72 度...
再加上我也已經拆過這台機子... 裡面的用料不差... 各位朋友可以放心購入...

再來是售價的部份.. 相信最近買菜愛亂逛的朋友.. 應該都有在Walmart, Meijer 看到他的蹤影.
Seal 本身也是在Walmart 購入的.. 這個價錢沒有便宜.. 但是也沒有貴到...
這兩間超市所販售的售價都是 USD $349.. 配備是120GB 的硬碟.. 加上 3 cell 的小電池..
小電池目前Seal 玩起來是剛好兩個小時把電用完...
預算有限的朋友可以等等看Meijer 每季都會有的15~20% off coupone... 買起來就會便宜多了..
這兩間所販售的顏色只有藍色與白色... Walmart 的網站上則另有開賣.. 粉紅色, 黑色, 與咖啡色..

再來就是預算稍微比較寬裕的朋友.. Seal 推荐妳買Amazon 上的 USD $ 399 版本..
差別在哪裡呢? 多花五十圓.. 你的Aspire One 會升級到160GB 的硬碟..
電池也提升到6 Cell 的大電池.. 網路上的討論是說.. 開無線網路.. 大概可以用5~6 小時..
從亞馬馬書店買的話.. 免稅免運費..

講了這麼多的廢話... 還是回到正題...
拿到這台漂亮的小電腦後.. 你該做什麼呢?

1. 先檢查螢幕有沒有壞點.. 有沒有死點.. 組裝有沒有瑕疵... 美國的退貨機制超棒...
有啥不對就趕快拿回去換叭!!

2. 努力操這台電腦操的兩三天... 有事就用內建的還原 recover 回去就好了...
一樣.. 有問題就趕快拿回去換叭... 不喜歡這台電腦也拿回去退叭... 感覺對不對很重要...

3. 打電話給美國宏基要還原光碟.. 不用錢喔!!!
步驟如下喔....

a. 拿起你的電話.. 撥這個號碼 866-695-2237
b. 請直接轉到Aspire One 專用分機.. 電話裡會提到.. 請仔細聽.. 可以加快處理速度喔..
c. 接通後請問客服要怎麼樣把Recovery 燒出來..
Aspire One 內建的還原軟體並不提供這個功能.. 客服可能會呆住或是他或直接說要寄一份給你.
如果他呆住的話.. 請直接問他能不能索取Recovery Disk...
如果還是不行的話.. 下面會給更狠的範例...
d. 態度很好的客服會幫你註冊你的Aspire One... 購買日期自己編一個叭!! 因為保固從那天開始算喔!
e. 等個兩三天.. 服務超好的Acer 會用Fedex Express 免費幫妳寄到...
最上面的圖片就是我收到的Recovery Disk 喔!!

如果你在上面跟客服講話的時候卡住.. 這裡有很奧客的美國人寫的吵架公式

3. I called the number given to me and a man answered who within a few minutes determined he couldn't help me and gave me another number to call,
saying that all Aspire One customers had to call this other number instead. Fair enough, but then why didn't Acer's email give me this number to start out

4. I called the new number, which is: 866-695-2237

5. I explain the problem to the lady, that my Acer Aspire One included no physical recovery disk and that the ERecovery option for creating one
was not available. It allowed a restore, but no recovery.

6. At this point, the Acer lady tells me the recovery is "on the disk", accessible by pressing ALT...etc. I tried to tell her that I wasn't referring to that
kind of a recovery, but rather how to create a recovery disk set. She seemed to refuse to understand the issue and kept reiterating the same tired
story about how to recover the system.

7. Remaining calm (but feeling exasperated) I said "I don't need to know how to recover the system but rather how to backup the hidden recovery partition
and Master Boot Record." She had no clue what I was talking about and transferred me to another support person.

8. The new support lady did the same thing, telling me "the recovery disk IS the hard drive, you already have it, just press these keys at boot time...."

9. I then say that if the partition or MBR gets wiped by a virus, or there's a physical breakdown of the HDD, or I want to replace the HDD with a different
one (within my rights!) I will have no way to get back the software I paid for. That's why I need to know how to backup my hidden partition and MBR to
create an external physical recovery set.

10. The support person says "the Aspire One doesn't have a built-in CD drive, that's why we include recovery on the HDD." Hmmmm, clearly Acer here is
trying to avoid the issue, or all of their reps are incredibly ignorant!

11. I stated that external drives can be hooked up, and I have one connected as we speak so that you can tell me how to use ERecovery to create
a separate, external backup recovery set on optical disks.

12. At this point....silence! The lady doesn't say anything. After a few seconds of worrying that she hung up, she goes on explaining "but you have
a recovery set, it's on the hard drive."

13. Refusing to accept Acer bullshit, I said "It's clear to me you don't know how to backup the recovery set that's on the HDD, to put it in a safe place.
Can I please speak to someone who does?"

14. I'm transferred yet again. The new person takes my serial number and then says "a recovery set on CD is shipped with that computer, you should
already have it." I replied there wasn't one and that the user manual package contents don't list it. Acer then insists that there is one. I ask if maybe
they are confusing it with the linux version because there are hundreds of reports on the internet that the win XP version doesn't come with the recovery
set. The rep. tells me that yes, even the win xp version is shipped with the recovery set!

15. I ask to speak to a manager at this point, saying that clearly this issue is now BEYOND TECHNICAL SUPPORT because if hundreds of people aren't getting
a recovery set and Acer now claims every Aspire One is shipped with it, then there is a need to talk to a manager.

16. The rep. puts me on hold, comes back after a minute, then simply asks me to write down a confirmation number and tell her my shipping address
so that she can "verify it".

17. After doing so, she simply says "we will be shipping you a recovery disk set since you apparently didn't receive one with your computer the way
you should have. We will be shipping it to you even though the warranty support period has expired.

18. What the fuck? The warranty support period expired? Impossible, I just bought the computer and registered it! But I didn't bother telling the rep.
that, knowing that if I ever needed warranty support I've got the original bill of sale and registration information to fight any bullshit. I was just
glad they decided to mysteriously ship me a recovery set instead of letting me talk to a manager.

最近很多人都在要這個.. 我相信大部份的Acer 客服應該都有經驗了.. 應該不會太難...
